Record Player

I had record player that played the blues
and front porch where I’d get my daily news
they say faith that's believing when you aint got any proof
But I had a record player that told the truth
I have a good Dad. When I was 12 years old
He gave me Harvest, Blonde on Blonde, and Rubber Soul
He said “here, this is some rock n roll that helped me in my youth”
He had a record player that told the truth
I’d listen to the songs that I heard
I found religion and wisdom in the words
On every crackle of vinyl when the needle hit the groove
I had a record player that told the truth
I had a girlfriend, she liked the Band
We’d go to her mom’s place, she’d take my hand
And lead me up the fire escape and slow dance on the roof
She had a record player that told the truth
I’d listen to the songs that we’d play
Pick a side and just let it ride… away
On every crackle of vinyl when the needle hit the groove
I have a record player that told the truth

Baby Blue

Well this is it, our plan is legit.
Let’s put masks on our faces, we can rob this place, and split.
At this point, we’ve gone too long to quit.
Besides that... they’ll never see it coming.
Keep in mind that I aint blind.
Every rich man that’s out there is an accomplice to the crime.
Ya run out of luck or ya run out of time..
Either way, we’re going to end up running.
Baby Blue, my lady true
I know you’re crazy, I’m crazy too
Let’s take this old life and make it new..
The only law I ever swore to follow…
is that you don’t have to ever beg or borrow,
and yesterday, that’s just today tomorrow.
Pardon you? Won’t ya drop me clue.
The bodies of two lovers were discovered in this room
and I think we got to get outta here soon..
There’s a place I know we can crash out for a while
and, all of your stones, you can leave em alone
When I read it sounded like a warning,
but when I said it, it sounded like a poem,
and one of these days we’re gonna roll back home
with all this money we can really do it up in style,
I just wanna see you smile..
Baby Blue, my lady true
I know you’re crazy, I’m crazy too
Let’s take this old life and make it new..
The only law I ever swore to follow…
is that you don’t have to ever beg or borrow,
and yesterday, that’s just today tomorrow.

Dangerous eyes

I’m looking for the girl with Dangerous eyes.
They’re hidden in her long black hair and dark sunglasses that she’d wear to cover up a pair of dangerous eyes.
I’m calling on that old familiar friend.
I found myself some solid ground but the old me is coming back around, calling on that old familiar friend.
And I know when the poison hits the blood, it starts to flow like medicine it settles in my soul and I lose control… and I’m just like you.
Downtown, there’s a riot in the streets.
Ya wanna go down there brother, try your luck, remember you owe me 50 bucks. I’ll pull my hat down low and tell ya peace.
And I know when the poison hits the blood, it starts to flow like medicine it settles in my soul and I lose control… and I’m just like you.
I’m looking at the world through dangerous eyes and everything in bloodshot red when I’m staring at this road ahead… looking straight ahead with dangerous eyes.
Looking at world with dangerous eyes.

Maybe Losing Your Mind
04:05

I met her at a meeting, she wouldn’t stop reading the pamphlet.
said she was a drinker, I had figured she was more about static.
In the end it made sense, the only thing I found confusing
Was her beautiful skin, I just assumed she had never stopped using
…that line
Maybe losing…your mind
ain’t such a bad idea after all
How far are ya now? She said - I’m at the part where I make amends
With those that are close, and the ghosts of my craziest friends
But before I do that, I go back. Aint no on going to fool me!
On Sunday its good business, but it’s possible by Monday or Tuesday
…I’ll find
that losing…my mind
ain’t such a bad idea after all
After a while, she was carrying on
Mainly I was thinking about how it could be used in a song
And I would’ve gone but I wanted to see the conclusion
like a witness taking stand for an innocent man that’s accused
of …a crime
Maybe losing…your mind
ain’t such a bad idea after all

Drug Dealer

I am a drug dealer, my number is in your phone. I’ve had many women but I've always been alone. Oh, how I loved those women and I wish they were real, but it’s too late and I know that I can’t go back on the deal.
So give me money, cuz I grew up poor. Give me freedom from that cage. Give me a front row seat at the cold war. Give me conflict for my rage. For life is but a gunfight, and it's all how quick you draw. Well, I come from a long line of men who broke the law.
I am a politician I do business with gangsters and kings. I don’t believe in heaven, I've done too many awful things. And, if there is a heaven well surely I don’t know. But I wont need no angels to show me where to go.
Cuz I am a drug dealer.

Adam & Eve

Hit the town with the bar crowd, got that old song in my head. There’s a lot stuff buried in these neck-of-the-woods that’s what uncle Johnny said, and I ain’t never met drunk woman that’s afraid to speak her mind but ya come home late to find that real estate is steadily on decline but I don’t ask about her night and she don’t ask about mine. We take an apple and leave just like Adam and Eve and everything will be just fine.
Last time I hit the city news came down the wire and someone was running around the town and they were setting the town on fire. I was white as a ghost cuz I smelled like smoke and my clothes were covered in wine and you know as well as me honey, I got a thing for losing time. But I don’t ask about her night, she don’t ask about mine. We’ll take an apple and leave just like Adam and Eve and everything will be just fine.
One thing you can’t argue, everyone gone die! Based on that I can’t understand why you would not want to get high. On my lap is a treasure map you know it ain’t no friend of mine, and this whole world they want diamonds and pearls and I’m pulling up nickels and dimes but I don’t ask about your business, if you don’t ask about mine. We’ll take an apple and leave just like Adam and Eve and everything will be just fine.

Scars
04:11
|

Hey babe, don’t I know you from before?
I think I recognize that laugh.
I’m pretty sure that we were lovers
in a lifetime from the past…
now we meet again at last.
Have some whiskey with me darling?
let’s do this thing in style,
we’ll put on our favourite music
and be together for a while,
you know I love to see ya smile.
and I will light the fire
like a city boy and sometimes Ill seem wild
cuz I'm a child around your charms,
and I' will lay beside you
and we laugh until we're tired
and you'll sleep
and I will hold you in my arms.
I’ve seen your beauty babe,
now it’s time you showed me
all your scars.
Would I like do disappear with ya?
you don’t have to ask me twice
I aint looking for a miracle
but wouldn’t that be nice?
After all we’ve sacrificed?…
Take it easy on me kid.
You know I kicked down every door
and it’s a fucked up way to live
and my feet are always sore
and I know I’m going to have to kick some more.
and I will light the fire
like a city boy and sometimes
Ill seem wild
cuz I'm a child
around your charms…
and I' will lay beside you
and we laugh until we're tired
and I’ll sleep
and you will hold me in your arms…
you’ve seen my beauty babe
now it’s time I showed you
all my scars
